From time-bending casinos to Japanese bath houses, each level brings novel mechanics and creative challenges that rival Nintendo’s finest platformers. Astro Bot represents the pinnacle of PlayStation’s platforming excellence, evolving from its origins in The Playroom VR to become one of gaming’s most beloved mascots. Originally introduced as a tech demo character, Astro Bot has grown into PlayStation’s definitive platforming hero. A few months ago, Sony issued a free DLC (downloadable content) for “Astro’s Playroom” that connects the previous game with the new one.
There isn’t anywhere else to spend Coin and you’ll always pay 100, no matter what. Plus, you’ll make a ton going to new and even older levels from exploring, destroying enemies, and collecting coins and old character and Puzzle Pieces. Astro Bot is quite literally this year’s best game yet, and it being a single-player platformer makes it all the more special. It checks all the boxes of being a complete package with its visuals, story, value, audio design, and most importantly, gameplay. The game is worth every dollar that it costs, and everyone that owns a PS5 should look to try this game out.
Thankfully, the DLC levels continue that element and Armored Hardcore is no exception. The Vicious Void Galaxy DLC has added the likes of Jade from Beyond Good & Evil and Heihachi Mishima from the Tekken franchise to name a few. Inside Armored https://tg884.com/ , players can rescue Ezio Auditore, a master assassin representing Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed franchise. After announcing the news back in February, the DLC levels for Vicious Void Galaxy are now all available.
@2huwman Some people are just like that, they can still enjoy the game but some might be completionists who want to get everything in the quickest time they can due to having many other games to play as well. Winter Wonder is a DLC level that unlocks after clearing the main game. It’s a special, festive-themed level full of Special Bots and other goodies to find.
ASTRO BOT is the award-winning, critically acclaimed platforming adventure, exclusive to PlayStation®5. Blast across more than 50 vibrant planets, discover new powers, and team up with iconic PlayStation heroes in a galaxy-spanning journey full of fun and surprises. Though completing levels will spawn new ones within the same solar system, there are also hidden mini-levels.
How a baby robot went from tech demo to iconic Sony mascot–and put its studio on the map in the process. The story kicks off as Astro is sailing across the cosmos with hundreds of his buddies on their PS5 mothership, just enjoying their quant robot lives. That nirvana is thrown into disarray when a dastardly alien interrupts the party, stealing the mothership’s parts and scattering hundreds of bots across the universe.

Each level presents new challenges, from navigating tricky terrain to overcoming environmental hazards. As galaxies are explored and Bots are rescued, Astro Bot’s hub world stations begin to unlock, including a closet with outfits for Astro and a claw machine that gives players a place to spend all their collected coins. The machine dispenses new Astro costumes, cosmetic options for the PS5 controller spaceship, and joy for the rescued PS-themed Bots.

With Astro Bot Rescue Mission, Team Asobi proved that it was more than capable of creating a remarkable full-length game. Asobi’s winning streak continued with Astro’s Playroom, a pack-in PS5 launch title that did a great job of showing off the DualSense’s haptic feedback and adaptive triggers. Simply put, Astro Bot is the studio’s magnum opus and, quite frankly, one of the best 3D platformers ever made.
Since all PS5 consoles come with “Astro’s Playroom” for free, it’s more than likely that “Astro Bot” will become a big hit for Sony. This is because every console owner has played the previous installment and are likely to want more from the character. I expected it to be a pretty fun little cartoon romp where the main draw would be pointing at the screen and going “Look! It’s Nathan Drake!”. What I got was one of the greatest platformers I have ever played, in terms of creativity, consistency, and cleverness, that just so happens to have a bunch of PlayStation mascots inside it.
It’s pretty worthwhile and honestly a lot of fun to reap sweet rewards from your treasure hunting. Once you completed a level for the first time, returning back to said level will have a little birdcage right where you land. What the Bird Bot will do is follow Astro around and, when a collectible is nearby, it will blink a bright light that’ll get even faster the closer you get.
Astro Bot Rescue Mission is a 2018 virtual reality platform game developed and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment for the PlayStation 4’s PlayStation VR headset. It stars a cast of robot characters first introduced in The Playroom and The Playroom VR. In the game, the player plays as Captain Astro, who aims to rescue his lost crew scattered across different worlds. For $59.99, this is quite literally the best platformer out in the current year. There’s so much to collect, levels to conquer, and secrets to discover that it actually feels weird that it’s not charged at the normal AAA premium.
At some point during your playthrough, I recommend muting your TV and leaving your controller audio on. You’ll immediately feel and hear just how much Team Asobi uses the controller to sell its visuals. There are 300 bots to find, and many are pulled from the wider world of gaming. Some of the more memorable levels stem from popular Sony franchises like God of War, with Astro wielding Kratos’ ax on one planet. Team Asobi really mined Sony’s vaults, far beyond simple Crash Bandicoot callbacks, and into weird and wonderful games like LocoRoco and Vib-Ribbon. As you’d expect from a 3D platformer, Astro Bot contains hundreds of collectibles for you to find.
Though the nostalgia or PlayStation love in will eke up the excitement for some fans (and even put some off), it’s not a pillar of Astro Bot, nor is it going to be the reason fans keep replaying this for years to come. For more PS5 game deals, check out the list of PlayStation console exclusives that are still up for grabs for major discounts this holiday. Unfortunately, the future is a bit uncertain for Astro Bot, as Team Asobi hasn’t revealed what’s next after this DLC pack. Considering the popularity of the game, it’s easy to assume more DLC is on the way, though as of now, nothing is official. What fans do know is that Sony has been thrilled with Astro Bot’s reception and performance. In fact, Sony announced more games like Astro Bot are being planned, expanding its family-friendly offerings.
Time trials and secret areas that unlock after collecting enough hidden materials can provide many more hours of entertainment, especially if time trial modes exist for friends to compete against one another. While there are hidden levels to discover in Astro Bot, after those are completed, there is little incentive to revisit previously conquered stages. This means that after the thrill of the game’s nostalgic moments wears off, there is not much reason to play after its 15 hours are up.
